Sabaidee! That means “hello” in Lao! (It’s pronounced sa-bye-DEE). Stan and Erin have arrived in Vientiane and have been getting down to work. For Erin, that’s been a lot of time on the computer, but Stan has been getting to know the FISHBIO staff at the Lao office, as well as Meko the Mekong Giant Catfish!

At first, he was a little intimated by Meko’s size, but then realized she was very friendly (and that she mostly eats plants, not other fish!). Stan got to meet big Meko here in Laos. Her cousin, little Meko, is having some adventures of her own in California with Ms. Gee’s class. Stay tuned for some photos of Meko in California!

We are looking forward to exploring Vientiane, posting photos of what we see, and answering your questions! We would love to hear from you!
